CDM SMITH

Can you explain your role and the types of projects you are working on for CDM Smith?

I’ve been a transportation engineer at CDM Smith for the past two years. Over these two years I’ve worked on several types of projects for INDOT including: small structure replacements, bridge deck overlays, pavement replacements, and a roundabout. On these projects I was responsible for plan preparation, quantity estimation, and modeling the projects using MicroStation’s corridor modeler and OpenRoads tools. I’ve also been able to work on a few Bus Rapid Transit jobs designing conceptual layouts for both center running and mixed traffic BRT lanes.

Why did you join ASHE?

I joined ASHE because it gave me the opportunity to meet and connect with others in the transportation industry. The Circle City Section has a diverse group of both young and experienced transportation professionals that make each event a fun opportunity to learn something new.

Why did you want to volunteer for the event planning committee?

I volunteered for the event planning committee because I wanted others to enjoy the events that the Circle City Section puts on as much as I enjoy them. Volunteering for the event planning committee gave me the opportunity to network and collaborate with the others on the committee at a deeper level that I otherwise wouldn’t have gotten.

What are a few things you do as hobbies/outside of work for fun?

Outside of work I really enjoy golfing whether it’s with my friends or by myself, for me it’s a good way to relax. I love football and basketball so I enjoy going to colts, pacers and Purdue games (Boiler Up!) whenever I get the chance.
